A Taxify driver (also known as Bolt) was robbed of his mobile phone, bank card, driver’s license and Toyota Corolla.

The incident took place on 11 May at about 2030.

According to Alex Police spokesperson, Simphiwe Mbatha, the victim was in Lombardy when he received a call requesting transportation from Bolt.

The victim reportedly went to the Bramley Van Derlyn Street, where he found three unknown men.

“The man who requested the vehicle introduced himself as Thabiso Christian and wanted all of them to be transported. The driver told them he couldn’t load all of them.

“However, they told him not to worry when he accepted to drive them to Alexandra 8th Avenue as requested,” said Mbatha.

Mbatha said that while they were in Phase One, he was asked to stop.

“Two of them got out of the car and made a phone call, while one remained inside the car.

“Suddenly, the two approached him and pointed at him with a gun, searched and took his Samsung mobile phone worth R2400.00, his ID card, his driver’s license and took off with the car,” Mbatha said.

“It is a Toyota Corolla prestige with registration number HD93HPGP and blue in color. It’s worth R180 000.

“The thugs also took R300.00 cash that was inside the car.”
