A major breakthrough has been made in the murder investigation of slain EFF Tshwane Region 2 Secretary and Election Coordinator Monicca Dube (44).
The Gauteng Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) has arrested a 35-year-old suspect in connection with Dube’s brutal killing. The suspect is expected to appear before the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court to face murder-related charges.
Dube’s death shocked South Africa after armed attackers allegedly stormed her Wallmannsthal home on 13 June 2026 and shot her multiple times.
Her killing came just months after she survived an earlier assassination attempt in which she was reportedly shot 11 times. She spent weeks fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) before recovering, only to be gunned down in a second attack.
While the arrest marks a significant step forward, police have not yet revealed the suspect’s identity, his exact role in the murder, or the motive behind the killing. Investigators have also not ruled out the possibility of more arrests as the investigation continues.
The case has drawn national attention, with many now hoping the arrest will lead to justice for Dube and her family.
