The brutal death of Nosicelo Mtembeni (23), final year LLB student at University of Fort Hare (UFH), has shocked the masses.

The 25-year-old suspect, who is her boyfriend, allegedly killed her, cut her body into pieces and hid some.

He is scheduled to appear before the East London court on Monday.

A black trash bag found next to the suitcase contained other parts of her body, while her head was allegedly found in a room where the two lived.

According to the Eastern Cape Police Spokesperson Brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana, the suspect and the woman were in the relationship.

#NotInMyName Secretary General Themba Masango said: “Nosicelo met her tragic death at the hands of someone she trusted and someone who was supposed to protect her.

“We would like to urge the public to refrain from sharing the graphic images of Nosicelo’s body in respect of the family who are still grieving.

“We will on Monday picket outside the court where the monster is expected to appear and will also visit the family to pay our respects.

“We want to call on the powers to treat this matter with speed and let it be done with venomous judgement upon this person.”

UFH East London Campus SRC president Sandiso Mbulawa, who is also a final year law student described the victim as a well-mannered student.

“We are very shattered and saddened by this news,” said Mbulawa.
