Alexandra VISPOL’s new commander, Colonel Vusimuzi Michael Ngubane, is ready to establish a solid partnership with the Alexandra community.

On his journey to a safer Alexandra, Ngubane is committed to combatting and eradicating crime.

Ngubane was born and raised in Tugela Ferry, a town on the north shore of the Tugela River in the centre of Kwazulu Natal.

He joined the then South African police Force in 1992 (Now called South African Police Services) and started working at the Fairlands SAPS, where he served the community for 15 years.

He has 29 years of service as a South African police officer.

He is not an enemy to education.

He holds a national degree in Police Management and a B.Tech in Policing.

In 2000 he was promoted and transferred to Linden VISPOL. He was subsequently moved to Sandton VISPOL.

His hard work led to his departure from Alexandra Cluster, where he proudly served the community for three years before being transferred to Bramley Police Station.

Ngubane was appointed to the rank of Colonel on February 13, 2021 as Commander of Alexandra SAPS’ VISPOL.

When asked what can be expected of him, he said, “I will make sure that Alexandra residents feel safe and protected.

“The law will be applied to tackle crime.

“My primary role will be to supervise operations at the station, including area commanders, shift commanders, officers and the customer service centre.

“I bring with me a rich background in policing and my door will always be open to solve any type of crime occurring in Alexandra.”
