Lehae La Alex NPO, in partnership with Ponelopele NPO, has started a new GBV & Human Trafficking based Soccer League Awareness Campaign in Alex. This initiative is called Alexandra Development Street Soccer League (ADSSL)

The league consisted of 11 teams with three divisions and the participants were girls and boys U13, U15 and U17 from Lehae FC,
Ponelopele FC, Kakaramba Jumbo CF, PMFC, Ext10 FC, Kukarajah FC, Far East FC, Gala Gala FC, Mish Mash FC, New Age FC and Kakaramba United CF.

According to Innocent Ngwenya, founder of the initiative, the intention of playing a boy and girl child in the same field was to build tolerance and understanding between the two genders.

Ngwenya said they wanted to identify vulnerable children from underprivileged families and expose their unrecognized talents to greater opportunities, including inviting bigger teams to “come scout around our teams”.

“At the beginning of February, the Chippa United Supporters approached us with the aim of celebrating their fifth anniversary.

“They sponsored the 1 Pal street Soccer Tournament for two divisions in our league, U13 and U15.

“Ext 10 FC won the U13 tournament and PM FC won the U15 tournament,” he said, adding Chippa United Supporters donated food parcels to Lehae La Alex Soup Kitchen that caters for 172 kids.
