Councillor Marema lost four members during  baptism in Juskei River

The four deceased were among the
fourteen church members who perished when the heavy rain swept them away during the baptism in Juakei River, Bramley.

 

“It is with a heavy heart that we pass this announcement. Recently there was a mass drowning that transpired at juskie River where many families lost their loved ones. 

 

“The office of the councillor has just learned that 4 of the victims from the 14 victims that have been discovered during the search and rescue conducted by emergency management services of the city, are residents of ward 116. Meanwhile, a three- month-old is still at large,” said Marema.

Marema said two deceased are from a family that resides at 64-16th avenue. 

 

He said the other two deceased are from 55-20th Avenue where an old person and a child had died.

 

“The toddler that is still missing is from the same family. The councillor is currently visiting the families to offer condolences.

 

“We ask that residents show support to the families and put them in prayer. 

 

“The Loss is of ward 116. We have lost fellow members of the ward. Let us show support to the families in numbers,” said  Marema.
