Thugs sentenced to more than three hundred years in jail

The Provincial Head in Gauteng for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Ebrahim Kadwa welcomes a hefty sentence handed down by the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg to the three thugs accused involved in business robbery in Gauteng.

 

The court sentenced the accused, Jones Jonas Mushwana (44), Mbuso Duma (34), and Sechaba Goodman Nxumalo (31) to three life imprisonment with additional three hundred and sixty years behind bars, with an option to apply for a parole after twenty five years.

 

According Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu, in September 2019, the accused, hijacked a Silver Audi Q7 from a businessman in Dragon City in Johannesburg.

 

“During the robbery, the accused shot and fatally wounded an on duty security guard with an AK47 and fled the scene.
Police swiftly responded to the incident,” said Mulamu.

 

Mulamu said the chase ensued which led to a successful apprehension of the accused in the Booysens area.

 

During the arrest of the accused, police seized AK47, differently sized pistols and electronic gadgets were taken for further investigation.

 

“The matter was referred to the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Johannesburg for further investigation, Mulamu said.

 

In October of this year, the court found the three to be guilty of murder, possession of unauthorized firearms and rifles, ammunition, and theft of a motor vehicle.

 

“The management applauds and commend the investigation team for an effective and comprehensive investigation, which led to this elated sentence,” Major Gen Kadwa said.
