A 35-year-old man accused of abduction is expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 6 December.

The thug was arrested in a disturbing operation carried out by Hawks’ Serious Organized Crime Investigation team in Johannesburg.

The Hawks’ investigation, in conjunction with the Ministry of Home Affairs, successfully apprehended the man positively linked to human trafficking cases in Gauteng.

According to Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu, police followed up on intelligence regarding suspected human trafficking in a house in Rabie Ridge near Midrand.

Mulamu said that upon their arrival, authorities monitored an identified location and pounced on a suspect who was relaxing right outside the house.

He said extensive research had been carried out where police found and rescued thirty-two men who were locked in a room.

The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with kidnapping.

“The victims were taken to a place of safety for procedural medical observation and treatment.
Investigation continues,” said Mulamu.
