Tshephiso Dineo Maekisa ( 32) was reported missing by her mother before she was allegedly killed by her boyfriend who lives in Vosloorus.

According to reports, Dineo left home with her two-year old child on Sunday, 10 January 2021 to visit her boyfriend at his residential place in Vooslorus where the suspect allegedly killed her and disposed her body at an open field in Heidelberg.

It is alleged the suspect later sold the blood-stained car to someone at Alberton who helped the police in tracking down the suspect.

The suspect agreed to have sold the car.

According to Captain Kay Makhubele a collaboration between the police and community members led to the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect, aged 32, was arrested on Monday 18 January 2021 at his place of residence in Vosloorus.

Makhubele said police followed the intelligence-driven information after the woman was reported missing on Saturday 16 January 2021 by the mother.

“It is reported that the woman left Alexandra on the 10th of January 2021 to visit her boyfriend who is the father of her two-year-old child. After she did not come back home, boyfriend indicated that she left to home but she did not arrive.

“Police followed the information which led them to the car in Alberton.

“The person found in possession of the victim’s car led the police to the boyfriend who sold the car to him.

“The boyfriend admitted that he killed her and dumped her in a open space in Heidelberg.

“A case of murder was opened after a body of woman was found in an open field.”

The suspect is expected to appear at Gershon Magistrates Court facing charges of murder

Makhubele said the police would continue to prioritise cases of crime committed against women and children.

“And to ensure that perpetrators are hunted down and arrested.”
