A 40-year-old man from the Eastern Cape province abandoned his bail application in Vanderbijlpark Court earlier yesterday.
He faces two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and four counts of kidnapping.
On 18 January 2022, the accused allegedly killed two under-age boys aged 5 and 11 and attempted to kill two other under-age boys aged 7 and 11.
The accused is the step-father of one of the boys he attempted to kill, but the four boys are related.
According to NPA spokesman Lumka Mahanjana, the defendant was arrested on 19 January 2022 at a taxi rank in Johannesburg on his way to the Eastern Cape.
“The matter was postponed to 25 February 2022 for further investigations and the Deputy Public Prosecution instructions,” said Mahanjana.
