Tshepo Malwa is very excited to have been crowned King of Siphosethu Arts Projects (SSAP) 2021.

Tshepo recalled that when he was 7 years old, he had an interest in becoming a model.

He says he was inspired by a man called Ulisses Jr to become a model as the man has won many bodybuilding competitions.

“In 3 years time I see myself embarking on the journey of becoming Mr South Africa and also being a recognized model in South Africa,” says the 18- year- old model born and raised in Alexandra.

The Grade 12 student encourages youth to choose happiness over other things.

“Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will ever make you happy until you choose to be happy. Your happiness will not come to you, it can only come from you.”

According to Founder & CEO of SSAP,
Nomsa Motha, the pageant is designed to promote a healthy competition and help develop the youth all around focusing mainly on Alexandra Township.

“The pageant has been going on a yearly basis started 2018. The aim is to empower and celebrate the youth in embracing their beauty in and out.

“(This is) to encourage confidence, test their level of knowledge, to groom the future Mr & Miss S.A /Universe and build their recognition.”

Motha says this would reduce the number of teenage pregnancies, crime, drug abuse and other social issues the youth are facing.

“This platform will allow them to grow mentally and make smarter decisions. We have seen a positive impact that this competition creates, and we would like to continue this wonderful work for our community.
