Boyofcotton is a DJ and producer from the Township of Alexandra whi began the music journey in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He released his first EP in 2022 titled Many Faces, then a first single titled Ngonyama which was followed by his debut album titled Ngonyama. These great music are all available in his digital streaming platforms.

The album, with a title derived from his single titled Ngonyama, is composed of versatile sounds of the amapiano genre.

The body of work includes featured artists such as Lwamii’, ‘Mnesh sa’, Nardi, Mabhola, Sweet T, just to name but a few.

The DJ born Kgotso Mohatle says he draws musical inspiration from producer and Dj Mdu, Aka Trp, Josiah de Disciple, Mr Jazziq, Kabza de Small, Chronical Deep, Master KG and the great Chymamusique.

“I’d like to collaborate with Mawhoo, Mkeyz, Zuma and Master Kg,” he says.

“As a DJ, the challenge I’m facing is getting my product to the right ears and getting shows due to the gatekeeping that’s happening in the game.”

The upbeat muso added, “I see myself as a musician who will be paving the path for the aspiring upcoming DJs, giving them an opportunity to also make for their own and provide for their families through their passion and talent.”

He has advice for young people aspiring to venture into business. “Block the noise and put in the work. Always start with what you have and never compare someone’s journey with yours.

“Focus on your lane, build whatever you can and keep pushing, you never know who is watching.”
