The Vilakazi family in Alexandra has not coped since their 16-year-old boy was murdered by his 14-year-old girlfriend last week.

All they need is money or transportation to help them to Ermelo, Mpumalanga this week for burial!

Mosa’s aunt, Paula Vilakazi (53) told Alex Reporter that no one was working in the family.

She said: “We are in pain, we are still in shock. We thought we could handle it. We don’t sleep.”

Paula described Mosa, the youngest born with four siblings, as a peaceful boy.

She said on that fateful day, a girl they had seen for the first time, came to their house at 25-7th Avenue, Alexandra and asked for Mosa.

Paula said the girl (who lives on 8th avenue, London in Alexandra) left with him and they were smiling.

“We never suspected any sinister motive, but we just laughed at them.”

After stabbing him not far from his home, the young girl was assaulted by the community.

“After we were notified of the incident, we and councillor Debro Frasisco went to rescue the girl from the community as they beat her.

“The girl said she had stabbed him because he was cheating on her.”

“We were surprised because we were seeing the girl for the first time and we had never heard of her before,” says Paula.

Mosa was supported by his 78-year-old gogo because his mother has epilepsy and survives on a disability grant.

“My mother did not recover either.” Mosa was really close to her and was always useful to her. He was a cool guy.”

According to Sergeant Mbatha, spokesman for the Alexandra police, the boy died at the Masakhane clinic when the girl stabbed him with an Okapi knife.

He was a grade nine pupil at Alex High School, while the girl is a grade seven pupil at Pholosho Secondary School, also in Alexandra.

The incident occurred in the township at around 19h00 in the evening on the 9th September 2021.

(A week earlier, another incident had preceded this one, when a 15-year-old pupil from Pholosho Secondary School had stabbed another pupil to death on the school premises. Qhayiva Nkayi (16) was buried last week in Eastern Cape after he was stabbed with a butcher’s knife. He was killed for intervening when his friend was attacked over a girlfriend.)

Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.

Lesufi said their Psycho-Social Unit has been dispatched to Alexandra High School to provide necessary support and counselling to all those who are affected by this fatal incident.

This process also continued on Monday, 13 September 2021.

“What transpired is truly saddening and we would like to share our deepest condolences to the family and school community for this loss.

“We also denounce, in the strongest terms, all violent acts by our learners. The SGB must investigate and take necessary steps in dealing with such matters,” said Lesufi.
