In the clip Sophie can be heard explaining how at some point in her life she had nothing in her bank account and no car. In that moment, she said, she spoke to God.

The video is from a sit-down interview Sophie did on Perspective with Itumeleng Sekhu-Pedi.

“I’m a skeleton, people had already written my obituaries, it’s me against the world with my God. I cleaved unto him,” Sophie said, explaining what got her through in her difficult times.

“I just wanted God to restore me, I just looked in the mirror every day for a year. No children no nothing, I was alone with my God in my house with nothing.”

Years ago the actress and businesswoman shocked Mzansi with her drastic weight loss. She later revealed she had diabetes .

Sophie previously opened up about the physical and psychological affects of the chronic disease.

Taking to her Instagram timeline, she shared awareness about the disease and her daily struggles.

“It’s a blue day. Know yourselves. Living with diabetes for almost a decade has taught me not to take life for granted. Being attacked, teased, laughed at was nothing. Even declared dead most times was nothing.

“Let me tell you, living with diabetes is not something you wish on your enemy. It’s uncomfortable, painful, confusing, deadly and 24/7 monitoring required. Trust me, prevention is better than cure,” she posted.
