ACF mourns the passing of freedom fighter, Aziz Pahad (82)

Activists and Citizens Forum( ACF) mourns the passing of former member of parliament and deputy Minister Aziz Pahad.

ACF spokesperson, Dennis Bloem described Pahad’s death as a huge loss to his family and the entire country, calling it a sad day for South Africa.

“Some of us had the opportunity and were fortunate to have worked with Comrade Aziz Pahad after the unbanning of political parties when he came back from exile and worked with him in Parliament.

“We can never forget Comrade Aziz’s enormous contribution in the Liberation Struggle. He loved his people and the country, a dedicated servant of the people, a good-hearted patriot, full of laughter and jokes.

“ACF conveys our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Pahad family, friends, comrades, and his political party, the ANC,” said

Pahad’s passing was confirmed by the family’s spokesperson, Dr Fazel Randera.

Randera said it was “great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Aziz Goolam Hoosein Pahad, at the age of 82”.

“A patriot, freedom fighter and servant of the people throughout his life, former Deputy Minister Pahad was a dedicated member of the ANC, a brilliant diplomat and strategist who served as Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister for International Relations from 1994 to 2008,” said Randera

Pahad leaves behind his wife Angina, brother, children, his granddaughter, and extended family members. He is also mourned by countless friends, comrades and colleagues, in South Africa and across the world.

Randera said the announcement of the funeral arrangements will be done in due course.
