The patrollers of ward 105 in Alex have massively embarked on a serious war against drugs and are vigorously determined to hold criminality by its scrotum and flush it to the jail drains!

Stories of them apprehending, moering or marinating thugs are a daily occurrence.

But this week the patrollers were hard at work cleaning the surrounding near Alex Mall as the area was filled with horror smell, long grass and intolerable garbage.

Under Cleanliness Campaign – Alex Mall, Dumisani Guffy Nkosi, Coordinator of the Ward 105 patrollers, made sure that the event went accordingly.

Guffy said cleanliness was an essential aspect of maintaining a healthy environment. He said it plays a significant role in ensuring the well-being of individuals and communities.

“In recent times, there has been a growing concern about the need for cleanliness campaigns in different parts of our Alexandra.

“In that saying when the entrance of the household is unclean it raises concern. In one’s mind, a lot of suspicions arise: crime, safety, security, health and well-being.

“And definitely sure, that is what really was happening at an open area in front of Alex Mall adjacent to Engen Garage.

“An unspeakable gang of naughty and unmannered boys, robbed, terrorized
and scared our community passing through the open space from or to the mall.

“This open space had turned into a dark bush. One could not see the vicinity of places, the garage next door and the road travelling from Alex Tsutsumani to the Mall, River Park and the ‘milestone’ London Road which is the isle to the freeway, Bramley and Sandton,” said Guffy.

“Where did we go wrong as the community and businesses nearby? The patrollers are saying NO to crime. No one MUST live in fear in their own space and in their own country.”

He said the community has a right to walk free, feel safe and secure “and more than anything live in a clean and healthy environment”.

Guffy said ward 105 patrollers saw it fit to do something about the area. “They really showed that they are ‘action’ people,” he said

The cleaning campaign happened on Sunday, 30th July 2023.

Guffy thanked patrollers, communities, business people, Alex Mall Management, Engen Garage Management, Thate Restaurant Management, ward Councillor Tefo Raphadu, ward Committee Mrs Lerato Babili and Pikitup , Green Vines
Nature Non-Profit Company (founded by the late Mr Basil Fobo Tshabalala) and River Park Patrollers.

“In short the event received a gigantic support, love and comrade. A big thank you to the organizers of the first and not last cleaning campaign by ward 105 patrollers.

Guffy also thanked Mr. Gumbi, the founder of ward 105 patrollers and Mrs Lerato Babili, Ward Committee Leader.

  1. I as a concern resident of Eastbank, I fully concur with what the patrollers are doing, they’r doing a wonderful work. It is now time that the government recognize these people.
I humble my self to the authority to try and meet them by assisting with equipments as well as the stipend to encourage them.
