TRAGIC NAMES REVEALED: FIVE FRIENDS WHO NEVER MADE IT HOME AFTER FAMILY CELEBRATION

KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Siboniso Duma has officially released the names of the five people who lost their lives in the horrific R612 crash near Breamer, KwaDumisa, on Saturday evening after meeting with their grieving families.

According to the preliminary investigation by the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) and the SAPS, the group of six had attended Umcimbi Wezinkomo in the Khambiyane area of Dumisa and were travelling back to their homes in Umlazi when tragedy struck.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle on a downhill bend. The vehicle left the road, overturned, returned onto the roadway and slammed into the roadside barriers. The impact was so devastating that all six occupants were thrown from the vehicle, suffering catastrophic injuries.

Five people died, while one survivor remains in hospital receiving treatment at Victoria Mxenge Hospital.

The victims have been identified as:

Following discussions with the affected families, it was agreed that each victim will be buried individually.

A Mass Prayer and Memorial Service will be held tomorrow morning to honour the lives los. It will take place at Menzi Sports Ground, N Section, Umlazi.

The service will bring together chaplains, faith leaders, community members and government representatives to pray for the bereaved families and remember the five lives cut short in this heartbreaking tragedy.
