After reporting the matter and action by relevant structures was delayed, members of the Patriotic Alliance decided to be the solution.

PA members in ward 81 took it upon themselves to clean up their place in Greenville informal settlement. They are now waiting for Pickitup truck to come and empty their bin.

“We are seriously concerned about the treatment we are receiving from the city of JHB, especially in Alexandra township. The whole township is dirty,” said Oupa Sako, chairperson of PA in ward 81.

Sako said it was imperative to stand up and be the solution. He gave an example of the patrollers who decided to team up and tackled crim in Alex.

“We further support the efforts played by Alexandra patrollers of fighting crime throughout the streets of Alexandra whereby their operation was a big success without the involvement of security clusters,” he said.

Sako recently came guns blazing over the alleged poor performance by the Region E in Alex.

Sako said the poor provision of services in his neighbourhood by Pickitup, JRA and City Power was devastating and horrible.

“Patriotic Alliance is very much concerned about behaviour of the city of JHB’s entities

“We are having a serious concern regarding JRA’s performance in ward 81 and in Region E Alexandra area

“Our roads are not been serviced since Covid-19 period until now. For example, London road from Masakhane Clinic to the off-ramp, the robots are not working properly, especially the 3 robots next to Alex Mall.

“Pickitup is only collecting dustbins and leaves all the dirt that is lying on the ground, particularly in Greenville informal settlement and Organic market.

“The bins are full and dirt is lying all over and HUB Water is no longer checking and fixing water spillages and as a result water is damaging the roads,” Sako said.
