One thug shot dead by police after he killed 10 family members

Police Minister, General Bheki Cele and the top management of the South African Police Service (SAPS) led by National Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola visited the crime scene of a mass shooting that has claimed the lives of ten family members in Pietermaritzburg KwaZulu-Natal.

According to initial police reports, the gunmen stormed a Pietermaritzburg homestead and ambushed the family, seven women and three men were fatally wounded during the shooting.

The police said the family members were brutally killed during early hours of this morning in Unit 14 (Imbali).

The motive behind the barbaric act of criminality is still unknown.

According to Cele, one suspect has been killed while two were shot and injured by the police while they tried to shoot at the men in blue. One has run away.

The leadership of the ANC led by the Regional Chairperson, Mzimkhulu Thebolla, head of Peace and Stability, Fanle Sibisi, and Regional Spokesperson, Njabulo Mtolo together with ANC branch leadership also visited the scene.
