The laid-off workers of Norman Goodfellows returned to their former employer in Wynberg on Monday, March 23, 2021 to request reinstatement.

This follows their initial demonstration on March 19, 2021.

The former workers accused management of unfair labor practices by dismissing them and hiring new employees.

The workers’ representative, Refilwe Rabalao, said:”We are not satisfied with the company’s decision to downsize and hire new staff without informing us.

“We are protesting in order to send a clear message that we are against their decision.”

Rabalao went on to say, “We demand to be reinstated to our former duties with immediate effect.

“We want incentives for 2019 and 2020 as well.”

On 20 March, Alex Reporter sent WhatsApp messages requesting comments from Jason, COO and Charlies Kramer, CEO of Norman Goodfellows.

Both have seen the questions and never considered them.

Norman Goodfellows is a well-established wine and liquor retail chain, a third company founded by Solly’s father, Norman Kramer, in 1976.
