While some cops have to appear in court for various scandals, others are helping the needy, if not chasing criminals!
The Germiston Flying Squad, together with Sergeant Badi of Eden Park SAPS, continue to put smiles on the faces of people in need.
The selfless team, led by Sergeant Ronny Kgabo Ramara, donated blankets and food parcels to elderly people at Mgiba Old Age Home in the Tsietsi section of Palmridge, on May 24 2021.
Ramara, who joined SAPS in 2003, said he had learned the importance of giving as he grew up in the Roman Catholic Church.
The good Samaritan policeman who hails from Ga Matlala Setumong in Polokwane, said that the spirit of giving in him has never ceased since.
“People came to my house to worship on Thursdays and Sundays,” Ramara said.
When asked where the donations came from, he said, “We received them from police, communities and schools.”
Ramara has received over 16 certificates from the SAPS and other institutions. His donation was also triggered by the pain of those he served.
“Life is like a wheel, sometimes it rotates quickly or slowly. Never laugh when you see someone struggling. But you must help them. Act now for the sake of saving lives.”
Ramara is unhappy with the myth that cops were enemies of the community.
“The police are also human beings and have rights, they are brothers, cousins, dads and mothers. Let us respect them and look at the laws of this land.
“Crime affects us both young and old. Let’s report it and have the reference as proof. The abuse of seniors is also a serious offence.
“Insulting, attacking them and taking Sassa cards has to stop.”
His dream is to have a happy life and a crime-free country where people will walk free.
He wants to be in command one day.
