Meet sergeant Ramara, a philanthropist with compelling charitable work

While some men in blue are controversially implicated in horrific scandals, others protect their community and nurture them with unbelievable passion!

Sergeant Kgabo Ronny Ramara is one of the acclaimed and renowned law enforcement officers in South Africa whose work can even be noticed by the blind.

Recently, Ramara and Mr. Molala from Ekurhuleni Municipality Social Services and Lotsha Support Organization donated food parcels to 200 recipients in Katlehong.

Although many of his works are not published in the media, Ramara has massively donated and assisted many poor families in the past.

Who exactly is this Ramara cop?

Ramara began school at Polokwane Ga Matlala Setumong up to the matrix. He pursued his education at Germiston College. He later worked for several companies including Transnet, SAB, Genrec, USABCO and other trucking companies as a driver and machine operator prior to joining Saps.

He started as Constable at Eden Park SAPS before he moved to Katlehong SAPS where he received recommendations from the station’s commander, Crime Prevention head, CSC Community Service Centre, Brigadier Rens, Brigadier Jonk and Colonel Thindeka.

While he was working under the leadership of Lt Colonel Maluleke as shift commander, he was also nominated for Tracker SA Awards and Ekurhuleni District Awards for Best crime prevention member.

In 2009, he was transferred to the Provincial Rapid Response Team where he retrieved over 20 tons of explosives.

This earned him the Star of the Year Award from Crime Line. In 2010, he was moved to Germiston Flying Squad where he started on the wrong foot as some of the members did not understand the style of work, but he never gave up or lose momentum.

Ramara’s dedication has been recognized with numerous awards. In 2013, he took home the Gauteng and the National SAPS Tracker Award.

He was given the opportunity to learn more about vehicle related crimes in the US in 2016.

He was also nominated for Gauteng SAPS Awards for Vispol Employees and Man of The Year award were he came second on Vispol and won Man of the year in Gauteng.

In 2017, he won the SAPS National Man of the Year Award. In 2018, he took home the Vispol Employee of The Year in Gauteng Province.

In 2019, Ramara won the SAPS National Commissioner Award for being Hero in the National Commissioner’s Junior Leadership Award.

He is a mentor, role model and coach to the young police officers. Ramara has received many letters from community members, churches, and station commanders applauding his good work.

He was also given a certificate for outstanding performance by the District Commissioner of Ekurhuleni.

In addition to food parcels, Ramara also donates clothing, toys and other items to school and homes around his jurisdiction of work.
