Abednigo Desmond Mbuyane, the Mbombela Law Enforcement Officer, appeared before the Nelspruit Magistrate Court today, facing the charge of Murder of Traffic Official Thomsanga Nkosi (34) at Kwanyoni Lodge in Nelspruit.
“The Mbuyane was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to Friday, 21 April 2023 for bail application. Investigation continues,” said Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.
Sekgotodi said on the 15th April 2023, Mbuyane’s wife and Nkosi booked in at Kwanyoni Lodge.
“While they were in the lodge, the female’s husband emerged and kicked open the door.”
Sekgotodi said there was an altercation as a broken beer bottle was found.
She said it was alleged that the traffic Nkosi ran out of the lodge and the husband followed him as he fired shots.
“The victim was shot twice and succumbed to his injuries. The suspect fled the scene.
“The team took initiatives to phone the suspect who handed himself over at SAPS Nelspruit,” she said.
“His official firearm which was used during the commission of crime was seized. He was charged with murder,” said Sekgotodi.
It is not immediately known how did Mbuyane get the tip off that his wife had booked at the lodge with another man.
