It has been 10 weeks since Lehae La Alex launched a GBV and Human trafficking awareness campaign as part of a 6 Aside soccer league.

With 9 teams in the league, Lehae La Alex aims to prevent or eradicate gender based violence through street diski.

The non-profit profit organization also aims to promote gender equality by allowing both male and female kids to play in the same field.

According to founder Innocent Ngwenya, this awareness will also help them to start tolerating each other.

“We want to develop tolerance and understanding between them.

“We also aim to develop non-recognized young talent on the street, including identifying relevant needs to enable these young players to achieve their goals.

“They are boys between the ages of 12 and 16 and girls between the ages of 12 and 18,” said Ngwenya.

He says they were inviting teams from NLFA and Alex to come and partner.

Lehae La Alex has already partnered with #NO EXCUSE (Men’s Forum) to get the message out that GBV was not a solution.

Ngwenya urges all organizations working to eradicate gender-based violence and human trafficking to work with his organization.

However, since there are children who go to play soccer on an empty stomach, Ngwenya asks any organisation to donate food and refreshments.

“Some kids don’t have soccer boots and are using old, damaged sneakers and playing on a gravel field, which is why we need first aid donations,” he said.
