The United Independent Movement’s (UIM) Vice President and Chief Whip in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Fatima Abdool, has called on the African National Congress (ANC) to admit its incompetence and stop blaming the Apartheid.

“Johannesburg is a ticking time bomb that will soon erupt in a state of disaster if something is not done
drastically and urgently.

” All these random gas explosions and fires are of great concern, and people’s lives are at risk.

“The UIM is calling on all role players to take this matter seriously and address the cause of these explosions
as a matter of urgency,” said Abdool.

He said this following another gas explosion this afternoon on the Cnr Bertha and De Korte Street in
Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

“While the ANC and their incompetent ministers and leaders continue to blame apartheid and keep the
spirit of apartheid alive, apartheid which died almost 30 years ago, our people are dying daily.

“It is time for the ANC to hold onto the little respect that South Africans have by acknowledging their incompetence and dismal failure to bring South Africans to the liberation and freedom they deserve.

“Every time there is a disaster, the ANC blames apartheid. Yet they are running this country into the
ground, failed to maintain infrastructure, create jobs, and build a sustainable economy.

“When will they take responsibility for their incompetence and lack of leadership,” he said.

Abdool said it was time South Africans realized that “if the ANC remains in power, we will go from bad to worse, and this country will collapse at the cost of all the citizens while the ANC cadres enjoy wealth and a
starving society”.

He said South Africans “must draw the line in the sand in 2024 and vote the ANC out of power”.

“The City of Johannesburg council was in chambers when the gas explosion happened this afternoon. No injuries have been reported thus far,” he said.
