After a 27-year-old, Ceaseman Dala Chauke, stoned his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Nokuthula Sithole, to death in Giyani, Limpopo, he ran away.
The incident that shocked the community, occurred at Dzingidzingi village, on Saturday 08 April 2023 at around 03h00.
He was arrested today on (10 April 2023.
According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the suspect handed himself at Giyani police station accompanied by his relative after he allegedly fled to Malamulele policing area .
“It is alleged, that the victim was with her friend coming from the local tarven going home, when they met her ex-boyfriend.
“It is alleged that the two had a confrontation before the suspect assaulted the victim with a stone. Her friend screamed for help and ran to a close by households.
” When she returned, the victim was critically injured and unconscious. The suspect was nowhere to be found,” said Ledwaba.
Ledwaba said the victim was rushed to hospital where she later succumbed to the injuries.
“She was identified as Nokuthula Sithole aged 23 residing at Dzingidzingi village in Giyani, Mopàni District.
“The Police were informed, and a case of murder was opened and manhunt was immediately activated until the suspect handed himself over to the police.
“The suspect will appear before the Giyani Magistrate court soon facing charges of murder.
“The Police investigations are still continuing,” Ledwaba said.
