Many commuters refuse to sit in the front seat of a taxi because they believe it is the most dangerous place during an accident. But a shocking crash has once again shown that no seat inside a moving vehicle is completely safe.
In a terrifying incident, a vehicle smashed into the rear of a minibus taxi and penetrated through the back window, where passengers were seated. What many believed to be the “safer” seats at the back instantly became a scene of horror.
The incident is a reminder that road crashes happen in different ways. A head-on collision can devastate the front of a vehicle, a side-impact can seriously injure passengers next to the doors, and a rear-end collision can turn the back seats into the most dangerous place in a matter of seconds.
Every time people get into a taxi, bus or private vehicle, they face risks that cannot always be predicted. The best protection is a responsible driver, a roadworthy vehicle, obeying traffic laws, avoiding speeding, staying alert, and wearing seatbelts whenever they are available.
As people of faith, many also believe that our greatest protector is God. We may take every possible safety precaution, yet we still need His guidance, mercy and protection on every journey. The Bible reminds us that the Lord fights our battles and watches over those who trust in Him.
Some believers also hold the view that certain tragedies involve spiritual battles beyond what we can see. Others may understand accidents differently, pointing instead to human error, road conditions or mechanical failure. Whatever one’s perspective, prayer, faith and wisdom remain important for many people as they travel each day.
The frightening reality is this: when a serious crash happens, tragedy does not choose between the front seat and the back seat. It can strike anyone inside the vehicle. So drive carefully, obey the rules of the road, pray before your journey, and never take another trip for granted.
