AnchorBee DJ SA, real name Bongiwe Gule, is one of Soweto’s shining stars of this current generation.
Today many people might know her as the real queen of the decks, but very few people know that the Pretoria-born, Protea Glen and EMdeni-based rising arts and media superstar started her journey as a dancer back in 2010 while she was still in primary school.
Her disc jockey (DJ) career, for which she is known today, started blossoming when she was in grade 10 at the famous Protea Glen Secondary School.
Fame and fortune started calling, but together with her parents and manager, AnchorBee DJ SA decided to put a pause on all the promising glitz and glamour lifestyles, just to make sure that she finished her high school studies first.
Immediately after completing matric at DR B.W Vilakazi Secondary School, Zakhala Strong, under the guidance of DJ Boika, Dj Izzy, Dj Dondo & King Cee her mentors, and AnchorBee DJ SA started DJ-ing at prominent venues like TK’s Place and Freak Out.
During that time, the real queen of decks rocked crowds with top DJs like Coro S.A., Zodiac S.A., Slam, Lunatic, DJ Nicki, and Sushi-Bu, to mention a few.
Immediately after that, dozens of big festivals, music booking managers, corporate gig facilitators, wedding planners, lounges, and lounge owners started competing to have AnchorBee DJ SA on their entertainment line-ups.
All of a sudden, AnchorBee DJ SA was on radio and TV stations’ speed dial. The fear of missing out led to some of them persuading her to be a resident DJ at their platforms.
Besides music, the South African DJ, television personality, radio presenter, record producer, and philanthropist has a strong interest in entrepreneurship.
