Gauteng MEC for Sport mourns death of famous Five Skipas

The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Morakane Mosupyoe has learnt with sadness of the passing of Orlando Pirates superfan Sphamandla Goodenough Sithole, who passed away in the early hours of Friday, 06 January 2023.

Sithole, famous for his line “five skipas”, criss-crossed the country following his favourite team, even when it was not fashionable to become a fan of the Soweto giants.

Mosupyoe has joined the football community in mourning the passing of the the famous man.

Sithole established himself as a household name by becoming Orlando Pirates FC’s number one fan, who would attend every club’s matches dressed as a woman.

He will also be remembered by his entertaining choice of words during television and radio interviews.

Reflecting on his passing, Mosupyoe said, “I am saddened about the passing of Goodenough Sithole, who was not only a football fan, but a staunch Buccaneer till the end.

“The sport and football fraternity has lost one of its greatest supporters. We convey our heartfelt condolences and sympathy”.

Feziwe Ndwayana, MEC’s Spokesperson , said Mosupyoe ,on behalf of the people of Gauteng expressed her sincere condolences to the Sithole family, friends, Orlando Pirates FC and the football fraternity during this difficult time.
