The deceased was shot and killed at 12th Avenue, Florence Maphosho (formerly Vasco Da Gamma) last night (29 March 2021.

It is alleged he was the chairperson of the Balubedu Long Distance Taxi Association.

He was reportedly killed trying to close the door of his car.

The details of the assassination are unclear.

Alex Police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha stated that he was unaware of the incident.

The head of the Alexandra Randburg Midrand-Sandton Taxi Association (Armsta) Molefe Moekeletsi narrowly escaped death when two heavily armed men shot him.

The incident occurred at the Armsta new offices in Wynberg on the 10th of May 2019.

When the mission failed, again in August 2019, heavily armed thugs invaded the Molefe facility in Marlboro early in the morning.

They ambushed his employees and set fire to ten (10) parked taxis.

In our interview with him, he indicated that he had been threatened a number of times.

“I have faith in the Almighty. He is the one who brought me into this world and he is the one who will decide the day I leave this earth, but not through a gun,” Molefe said shortly after the incident.

In a very short time, the association has lost a large number of its members to firearms.

Armsta Chairman Sam Budza and his bodyguard Fani Ramantshwane were gunned down in Marlboro on 12 July 2018 while under police escort.

Isaac Seriti, a member of Armsta, was gunned down 32 times on 23 July 2018 in front of his home in Extension 8, Alexandra.

Armsta Chairman Tello Selepe was killed on 12 February 2019 in Honeydew.

Armsta’s Chief Patrol Officer Bethuel Hlongwane, known as Hosi, was shot dead at the Pan African Mall on May 24, 2019.

Arrests related to these matters have not taken place since.
