Alutha Pasile (25), who is accused of killing Nosicelo Mtembeni (23), final year LLB student at University of Fort Hare (UFH), has confessed to have killed her.
Pasile appeared before the East London court today and abandoned his bail. He is expected to return to court on 28 September.
Students, civil society, political parties and numerous organisations gathered to support the family of the deceased.
According to the National Prosecution Authority, Anelisa Ngcakani, the accused has confessed to have killed Nosicelo after suspected she was cheating on him.
“His confession is detailed,” Ngcakani told Newsroom Afrika.
He allegedly killed her, cut her body into pieces and dumped some parts on the street.
A black trash bag found next to the suitcase contained other parts of her body, while her head was allegedly found in a room where she lived with him.
