Jack Hermans, 22 years old, from Alexandra Township, completed his matric at Minerva High School. He is currently at the third year level, doing Bachelor of Education at Sol Plaatje University, Kimberley in the North Cape.

Jack started his modeling career in 2019 when he entered the 2019 Mr Campus Sol Plaatje University contest, and luckily, he was able to win.

And then he never looked back. He said that as he grew with insecurities about his appearance, he felt less confident. But as time went on, Jack began to see himself as a unique individual, which led him to compete.

On 27 November, Jack Hermans was crowned Mr Municipalities of South Africa 2022 1st Runner up.

Mr and Miss Municipalities of South Africa is an organisation which campaigns for the employment and empowerment of young people.

“This title really means a lot to me as it will give me a platform to put my advocacy of Equal opportunities and Diversity into action.

“I strongly believe that each and every opportunity should be given to everyone, especially the youth, regardless of their different social identities,” he says.

He believes this will result in a community led by motivated and empowered youth.

During his reign, he intends to pursue his charitable work and work with other title holders in the community of Alexandra Township.

His goal is to at least inspire the next generation by helping them unlock their potential. And also making them believe that dreams can come true as long as they believe in themselves and don’t allow anyone to discourage them in anything.

Jack’s motto: Value and know yourself, in order to positively influence those around you. Always aspire to inspire.
