When Laila Salani attended a fashion show for the first time in 2017 hosted by Alex as a fashion model, she didn’t know that her passion for the industry would grow bigger.
She carried on until she changed to become a pageant model in 2021 at the age of 17, after being inspired by Lalela Mswane, who won Miss Supranational 2022.
Laila won Miss Mhinga Public Choice 2021, Miss HP Model 1st Princess 2022, Miss Malamulele 1st Princess 2022, Miss Saselamani Best Dress 2023, Miss Marvelous Mosaic Best Creative Wear 2023, Miss Diepkloof 2nd Princess 2024, amongst others.
Some of the obstacles she and other young girls encounter are that the industry is full of scams and some people use it to make extra cash.
However, this girl with brains has big dreams for herself.
“I see myself representing South Africa in a national pageant like Miss Supranational or Miss World,” she said.
People in general can benefit from her advice. “Well, if you have something in mind that you want to do, just go for it.”
