Coca-Cola talent Acquisition Specialist, Kegomoditswe Ntshe spoke to the Alex High School learners about opportunities available within her organization.

Speaking at the event organized by Esther The Light Foundation, she told them that after the matric, not all of them were going to universities. She said some would use channels of learnerships and internships for growth.

She asked them to grab opportunities available at their disposal. “You guys are adults now, you are not children anymore. You really need to face the reality of what our country is facing.

” However, in the same breath, you need to be grateful that you form part of demographics of blacks because that’s what all multi-national organizations such as Coca-Cola and all other bigger organizations in the market are looking for.

“So, if you hold your future in your hand, take information and make best decision of your lives, that will actually impact you tomorrow. At Coca-Cola we have different programs, as well as learnerships and internships that we offer to people who have passed grade 12 on an annual basis.

“Yes, you will go to varsity, get bursaries. But those who are not able to receive good marks in pure math literacy, as well as physical sciences and getting an average marks between 40% and 50%, you are definitely guaranteed an opportunity to work for an organization such as Coca-Cola.

“We partner with SETA so that we put you on a 12 months learnership. We place you in different functions within our workplace and you get accredited in that one year.

“Coca-Cola actually takes you through a program which enables you that when you go into the market, you already have the equipped skills.”

She also told the learners that her organization was each year providing the top ten learners within a school, an opportunity to study at universities.

“We will sit down with the principal and see who the top learners are so that we give these opportunities to them,” she said.
