Alex Life Begins At 40 (ALBA40) will be launching its funeral plan next January.
The movement was created in March 2021, but it has grown rapidly.
The social, networking and entertainment movement began to rally and unite people as young as 40 and older.
Founder and chairperson Jimmy Masingi explained why only 40-year-olds were eligible for membership.
“When people reach 40, they experience changes in their lives and bodies. They are now attracting opportunistic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer and other diseases.
“And once again, their circle of friends begins to shrink for various reasons. So, in the context of this movement, we meet at various events or club meetings where members have the opportunity to discuss any problems or issues that bother them.
“With your peers, it’s easy to share your worries,” he said.
Masingi said the movement has a WhatsApp group that helps more than 100 members cope with their challenges.
“Members will support you if possible or direct you to the right people.”
Masingi said ALBA 40 has a money savings club and Stokvell where they put money aside until they distribute it among members in January.
“On Stokvell, each member contributes R2000, 00 to one member on a rotation basis.
“In addition to existing clubs, members decided to add a funeral plan.
“The members of the movement decided that it was necessary to establish a funeral cover so that we could bury ourselves or support each other in case of need.
“What also prompted us to go down this path is that we have already lost two of our members, Bra Buti and also ausi Gabisile, recently.
“Our cover will be launched on January 2023. It will cover 10 beneficiaries and 1 main member for R2000,00 each without age limits.
“The cover will also include a R10,000 tombstone for each member.
“During the bereavement, R200.00 airtime of your chosen network will be provided to arrange the funeral.”
He said that cover only costs R 50.00 per month.
