The 130 participants walked for 12.12 Km, from Alexandra Phuthaditjaba Center, 17th Avenues to Balfour Park recently.
Participants included the staff of Afrika Tikkun, ECD, CYD, CDP, YAP, 360, councillor Adolf Marema, and Vincent Ndima, president of Alex Parliament.
The campaign was a fundraiser through the Spirit of Belron.
The Spirit of Belron Challenge is a charity event which brings together teams from around the world to take part in a triathlon, fostering a culture of fun competition & inclusiveness.
Teams run, swim and cycle to fundraise for Afrika Tikkun, a South African charity for disadvantaged youth facing adversity.
A woman aged 83 , Frida Lebelo, and a woman aged 69 , Maggie Plaatjie, also participated in the event.
The two gogos surprised the other participants because they didn’t even look tired while some of the participants complained of distance.
Lebelo said that she was strong, citing regular exercise and healthy eating.
