DURBAN – A 32-year-old Nigerian national is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday, 23 July 2026) after members of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit arrested him during an anti-drug operation in the Point area of Durban.
Police say the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, after officers found him in possession of 11 packets of cocaine with an estimated street value of R33,000.
An extensive search of the same building led to the recovery of additional drugs that had allegedly been abandoned. Officers seized 830 Ecstasy tablets, Crystal Meth, and 300 grams of Methcathinone, with an estimated street value of R154,800.
The total estimated street value of all the drugs recovered during the operation is approximately R187,800.
Police say operations targeting drug trafficking and illegal firearms will continue across KwaZulu-Natal as part of ongoing efforts to remove drugs from communities.
