911thewheelchairdoctor repairs 30 wheelchairs in Alexandra for free

Enerst Mongezi Majenge (29), founder and CEO of 911 thewheelchairdoctor has on Friday (10 March 2023 ) repaired thirty (30) wheelchairs free of charge.

The aim was to support needy residents at Itlhokomeleng Old Age Home in Alexandra North of Johannesburg.

Majenge decided to intervene when he was made aware of the difficulties faced by those living with disabilities.

” Our purpose as the wheelchair Doctor is to see every disabled person having an access to wheelchairs. I challenge business owners and stakeholders to join the force in order to contribute to the intitiave,” says Majenge.

He says in order to be considered on their next repair makeover inon May. Candidates must be South African citizens with valid identification and a disability certificate must be provided in order to be approved for application.

Majenge will only fix the seat, back, armrest and strep.

He said that the whole purpose of the initiative was to restore dignity to people with disabilities.

“Everyone deserves the basic services as well as a better life by having their basic needs provided for,” said Majenge.

Mother Teresa of Alex, Dr Marjoerie Makganye said she was pleased to receive the humanity of young people.

” It has been a struggle mostly for the elders who were using wheelchairs that were dysfunctional. Now it will be a huge relief for them as well as the nurses who frequently travel with them to hospitals for medication,”said Manganye.
