“FATHER OF ALEX” SPREADS MANDELA DAY LOVE TO ELDERLY

There were smiles, laughter and heartfelt moments as Alexandra philanthropist Mr Linda Twala, affectionately known as the “Father of Alex,” celebrated Mandela Day by honouring senior citizens at his home in Alexandra.

The special celebration brought together elderly residents, community organisations and local leaders, all united in the spirit of giving back.

One of the most touching moments came when Mr Twala personally fed the grandmothers, leaving many of them smiling with joy and appreciation. His act of kindness captured the true meaning of Mandela Day—serving others with love, dignity and compassion.

The event was also attended by the City of Johannesburg Chair of Chairs, Councillor Adolf Marema of Ward 116, who joined other guests in celebrating the elderly and recognising their important role in the Alexandra community.

The gathering served as a reminder that Mandela Day is not only about giving for 67 minutes, but about restoring hope, showing compassion and ensuring that those who built the community are never forgotten.
