ONE: Armed robbery
Mohammed Jakir Hossain, alleged that at about 08:40, four men entered his shop, Shakir Cosmetics at no: 36 – 1st Avenue, in Alexandra posing as customers.
Two of the thugs produced firearms and ordered his brother Solomon to unlock the gate for them to access the cash register.
They took +-R45 000-00, cigarettes valued at +- R21700-00 and cigarettes to the value of +-R30000-00.
The total value of the robbed items is +-96700-00. Customers, along with his brothers, Solomon, Rassy, Bapi and Yusum, were stripped of their mobile phones and other personal items.
Sergeants Nkuna from LCRC and Mosomane from TRIO were summoned to the crime site.
TWO: House robbery and murder
Aaron Nkuna alleged that about 21:00, he was in his room with his friends: Nelson Khoza, Justice Chauke, Domingo Chauke, Frans Nkuna and the deceased Dennys Mbowa when two thugs entered their room and robbed them of their valuables.
The incident took place at extension 7, Jungle Squatter Camp, Shibobo Drive.
It is alleged that one suspect was armed with a firearm. He gave them instructions to lie down and the other suspect searched them.
According to Alex police spokesperson, Sergeant Mbatha the thug took R300-00 cash and a cell phone from the deceased, R100-00 from Aaron, 1 cellphone from Justice and another cellphone from Nelson.
As the thugs departed, Dennys asked them to hand over his SIM card and they shot him in the head.
“The deceased was wearing black jeans, blue jersey, brown belt and black All star tekkies,” Mbatha said.
Abdul Maajid Mathews of EMS declared Dennys dead on the scene.
CRIME THREE: Murder
It is alleged that on Sunday, 01 August at about 17:30 Sandile Khanyile, Philani Mkhize, Nathi Sithole and Konji were sitting in a green and white Toyota Siyaya Combi with Reg no: SGL 735 GP parked in front of no: 150-4th Avenue, in Alexandra when one unknown thug came and shot at them.
Mbatha reported that Khanyile was shot four times in the chest and four times in the back. He died on the scene.
“Mkhize was shot in the chest and died upon arrival at the Masakhan Clinic. Sithole was shot and taken to Helen Joseph Hospital where he was given medical care.
“An eyewitness escaped without injuries,” said Mbatha.
CRIME FOUR: Carjacking
Nkanyiso Mkhize (31), resident of Far East Bank Alexandra, was driving his white vehicle Nissan Almera. TSP 957 GP when it was hijacked.
He told the police he was approaching Roosevelt when a white Toyota Avanza with no license plate stopped him from the front.
An unidentified man came out of the Avanza armed with a gun.
The incident took place in the South Africa Loop, Roosevelt Far East Bank in Alexandra on August 2 at approximately 5:00 a.m.
“He pointed at him instructing him to get out of the car. He spoke Zulu language,” Mbatha said
The thug ran off with his vehicle and the victim was unable to identify the thug because it was a little dark. The value of the vehicle is R40000, 00.
CRIME FIVE: Murder
Mthulisi Ndlovu (39) from 34 Elry Street in Fairmont was gunned down by an unknown thug when he was with his friend.
The incident occurred on August 2nd at the corner of London Road and 1st Avenue Alexandra.
The police are investigating the case.
