Shadrack Mkhonto, ActionSA’s PR Councillor who is fondly known as Alex mayor, had to leave what he was doing to help the missing boy.

Although the busy politician did not have time, he had to accommodate two men from Setjwetla to his home in Marlboro Gardens who went there without an appointment.

Mkhonto who is famous for names like the’ Councillor without borders’, ‘the black Mamba’ ,’the Mascot of Alexandra’, said before the men brought the boy, he was fed by female vendors who sell vegetables along side Zinnia road next to the Green house.

“The ladies realized that the boy was lost and fed him. They then asked people if there was someone who knew the boy and nobody seemed to know him,” he said.

The ‘Alex Mafia’ said that the ladies suggested that the boy should be brought to him.

“I asked Alex FM to inform the community about lost boy and that his name was Chuku Dlamini (5).

“He spoke Zulu, but we could hardly hear his words.”

“Ramatamo from Alex FM noted and announced it around 19h00.”

The Alex mayor took the kid to the 15th Avenue police station where there was a huge queue of people.

“I requested one of the police officers to assist me. I started to state the story and immediately before I finished explaining, a cop interfered and said ‘come this side in this office, there is a man reporting the lost child and we were about to assist him’.”

He said it was discovered that the man was the father of the lost boy.

Mkhonto said the man was warned never to leave the young boy alone. He said he was at work when the boy got lost.

“I then took it upon myself again to transport them to Setjwetla next to the pedestrian bridge where they stay and dropped them there,” concludes Mkhonto.

At the time of going to press, Alex Reporter hadn’t spoken to the boy’s father, Sibongayena Dlamini.

Alex children are missing on a daily basis. And for missing child to be found alive is a miracle as there are reported cases of murdered children or ubducted ones oftenly.
