Linda Twala, the father of Alexandra, was concerned that future leaders were drowning in alcohol in a massive and terrible way.

” My biggest worry is who is going to lead this country when we have passed on? Because our children are drowning in drugs,” said Twala.

Alex Reporter interviewed Twala during the celebration of Joyce Mantsekele Kgomo, who recently turned 94 years old.

” I can see that they are very happy to be smoking dagga, hubbly bubbly and all those things. These things are really destroying your lungs,” warned philanthropist Twala who has never tasted alcohol.

Twala mobilized the kids and flooded Kgomo’s house at 6th avenue and sang for her.

He said he and others were raised by Kgomo and used to play in her yard as young boys.

” These are the women who made us who we are today,” he said.

Tshepiso, an 18-year-old woman, stated that Kgomo, the mother of three children, is her great grandmother.

“I want to express my gratitude to God for keeping her alive until today. I am thankful…it’s a blessing.”

She wished that young people could reach the same age as her granny has reached. However, she is too concerned about the fact that many young people are dying young.

According to her, suicide is the leading cause of death for most young people. “As young people, we are exposed to so many things that cause us to be in places where we feel that the only way out is suicide.”

She advises her peers to be always cautious and seek for assistance when stuck . “It’s ok to ask for help and always talk to someone you can trust when you feel overwhelmed.

“You must know what you want so you don’t fall in the trap of peer pressure. Mistakes are part of life, learn from the them so you can be the version of yourself and always respect your elders. And remember, education is key.”

She thanks Twala for his unwavering carrying to families in Alex and across the country . “It was a pleasure meeting Mr Twala and I would like to thank him for everything he has done for us and our gogo.Your help is greatly appreciated,” said Tshepiso.

Twala promised to build a toilet for the gogo  inside her house as she struggles using the outside one.

During Mandela Day, he will pamper the elderly with food parcels and gifts as he always does.
