Since Lehae La Alex was founded, many
children’s lives in Alex have improved.
Founder, Innocent Ngwenya says the kids who are part of his organization are exposed to many beneficial things.
This includes the entrepreneurship program, amongst others.
Ngwenya says that the goal of these programs is to help children become a solution for their families .
During events such as street soccer, he invites guests who raise awareness about gender-based violence and human trafficking.
By uniting boys and girls, Ngwenya asserts that another intention is to foster tolerance in them.
Recently, Lehae la Alex hosted celebrities like Aya Myoli, an Imperial Lions cricketer.
The other major celebrities were Lesego Pooe, a sports broadcaster; Caneous Mdluli, weightlifter and fitness coach; Oupa Manyisa and Brighton Mhlongo, who are both footballers.
The stars danced and sang with the children. But the most important thing they did was to share information and inspire them.
In partnership with McDonalds, they pampered the young ones with nutritional products.
“What I have learnt from them is that in order to achieve, you need to have confidence in yourself,” said Ngwenya.
He believes each person was born with a gift. “But in order to adapt or pursue your goals and dreams, you need to participate in a number of developmental programs ,” he said.
He talked about how most youth end up committing crimes because they want to impress their peers, saying unnecessary competition among the youth lead to disaster.
Ngwenya calls on parents to release their children to join his organization as it will expose them to more benefits.
“We do movies and on the 2nd of July, we’ll be hosting a kids’ movie stream for the series they are currently shooting. And now we are on season 1 episode 2.”
He says that on Mandela Day, he will host a Little Mr. and Miss Mandela modeling competition for nursery schools around Alex.
To participate, please contact Ngwenya at 065 371 8369 or go to his workplace at Bombani Shelter, extension 8 (Andrew Radebe Street and Martin Mabitsela Street).
